Bijan Amini-Alavijeh

(b 1991United Kingdom. Lives and works in Wakefield)

Amini-Alavijeh’s artistic practice is an exploration of how things are made. He manipulates both manufactured and crude processes, looking at the mathematics of form, with a focus on structure, repetition and scale. Juxtaposition is important in his work. Photographic observation and architectural studies inform his repetitive, abstracted sculptural plaster and concrete forms, while painterly gestures demonstrate fluidity, movement and sensitivity. This fluidity sits in contrast with the more rigid materials he works with.
