Working with intimate narrative collages and installation elements, Hayson presents scenes from alternative parables that seem to both affectionately yearn for and irreverently undermine ideas of romance. She makes use of nursery and craft materials like paper mâché and utilises images from both art history and glossy magazines. As a result, her revisions are de-stabilized, making it unclear who is prey or predator, hero or villain, often celebrating a more playful female-centred erotica.
