Michael De Luca believes drawing is an end in its own right. Working exclusively with pastel on paper, he uses two-dimensional graphic shapes to explore gesture, motion, cause and effect. His shapes are intentionally flat, but malleable, minimal, and complete; it’s their uncoordinated ability to expand, stretch, slouch, or bend that most interests De Luca.
