Chantal Vey

(b 1970France. Lives and works in Brussels)

Vey specialized in photography after studying History of Art in Lyon and a year of research in Italy. During this first foreign residency she adopted her practice of nomadism as a form of work, travelling and walking around Europe and China.

In recent years, her approach has been more specifically concerned with exploring the edge of Territories such as a one thousand three hundred and eighty-six kilometre journey along the Belgian border in 2010, in her small van that she has transformed into a mobile home. This year she is following the contro-corrente; an itinerary along the Italian coast, inspired by the travel diaries of Pier Paolo Pasolini and the route he travelled some sixty years earlier.
