Pearey’s recent series of works began as developmental maquettes for his ceramic practice, which then grew into a more substantial, stand-alone body of work that drew on the environment surrounding Pearey’s studio in East London at that time. Made of reclaimed pallet wood and coated with dried kiln sand mixed with acrylic paint, initially the works were quick and meaningful ways to use up waste material and build on his formal sculptural language.
