Alexandra Chaves Jiménez

(b 1988Spain. Lives and works in Mataró)

Alexandra Chaves Jiménez constructs colourful geometric and asymmetrical pieces in an attempt to create a safe and balanced space, where awkward perspective and manual imperfection co-exist with mathematical proportion. Influenced by German Romanticism and Chinese Taoism, her work combines order and chaos through the manipulation of shape and colour.

“The works acquired by Art Gazette are small and medium pieces on paper and canvas that I use as experiments for other bigger works. Although they can be considered as drafts or works-in-progress, these unique pieces are, for me, the seed of all my art.”
