Jo Voysey explores medicine as a medium for painting. The medicine comprises of self---medicated pharmaceutical products, tinctures and galenicals. They transform into visual metaphor for notions of trauma and healing. An important component is the unpredictability of the medicine as a means for painting. The outcome is based on chance and the uncontainable aspects of the medium juxtaposed with the more controlled elements of oil paint within the work. Affected by the disappointment in humanity under such circumstances that the world is currently in her paintings draw attention to a sense of loss and a longing for healing.
