Collection: Alexandra Chaves Jiménez
(b 1988, Spain. Lives and works in Matara)
Alexandra Chaves Jiménez constructs colourful geometric and asymmetrical pieces in an attempt to create a safe and balanced space; where awkward perspective and manual imperfection co-exist with mathematical proportion. Influenced by German Romanticism and Chinese Taoism; her work combines order and chaos through the manipulation of shape and colour. “The works acquired by Art Gazette are small and medium pieces on paper and canvas that I use as experiments for other bigger works. Although they can be considered as drafts or works-in-progress; these unique pieces are; for me; the seed of all my art.”
