Swain Hoogervorst’s practice incorporates two aspects; intimate still life studies followed by his greater studio practice. The former revolving around responsive en plein air style work.
“These typically small, still life paintings have become a precursor to making larger and more abstracted works, the ambition of which is to put together a series of moments that excite me.”
His current work has evolved into creating surfaces that act as repositories, pictures symbolising his ability to choose freely and change his mind.
