Stephen Jaques

(b 1958United Kingdom. Lives and works in London)

Jaques' work is a constant cycle of reinvention and discovery, from sacred geometry to natural form. Colour binds together the disparate elements. The process is similar to alchemical transformation – a perpetual unfolding. Sources range from ancient art and symbolism, Arabic design and calligraphy, to contemporary art and architecture.
Incorporating decorative and symbolic elements to produce what Laurence Noga describes as “mysterious, super-structures, oscillating between refined flatness and illusionary forms floating in deep space”.
