Kevin Monot

(b 1987France. Lives and works in Rennes)

Monot’s work is characterized by a quasi-systematic use of black and white, sometimes embellished with colours like lemon yellow. It’s a way of working that employs an economy of means that belies the richness of the visual vocabulary deployed.

His work evolves from many intimate studies in notebooks, from sets of paintings on paper to collages, monotypes, paintings on canvas, texts and drawings that use a plastic language in which words, signs, symbols and gestures mingle between abstraction and figuration.
